Privacy policy

What this site collects, why, and what you can ask for. Last updated 6 November 2026.

Who is responsible

This website, himankseth.com, is run by Himank Seth, Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. For anything about your data, email hello@himankseth.com or use the contact form.

What we collect

When you send a message, sign up for the newsletter or use the fit check, we store what you type: your name, email address, and, if you give them, your company, what you need help with and your message. We also store which page you sent it from, your IP address and a session ID, so we can spot spam and abuse.

When you comment on an article, we store your name, email address and comment, plus your IP address and a session ID. Your name and comment appear on the article once approved. Your email address is never shown.

When you just browse, our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, the page requested, browser type and time) for security and troubleshooting. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your message and discuss the work you asked about. This is in our legitimate interest and, where you’re asking about a service, a step towards a contract.
  • To send The Operator Notes newsletter, only if you signed up for it. This is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To publish your comment, which is why you submitted it.
  • To keep the site secure: rate limits, spam filtering and investigating misuse. This is in our legitimate interest.

We don’t sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to make automated decisions about you.

Who else processes it

  • Hostinger hosts the website and its database.
  • Cloudflare provides the domain’s DNS, and some traffic passes through its network.
  • Our email provider carries the emails we exchange with you.
  • Calendly handles bookings if you choose “Book a call”. Its own privacy policy applies to what you enter there.

These providers may store data outside your country. Where the law requires it, transfers rely on the provider’s standard contractual safeguards.

Cookies and browser storage

We use only what the site needs to work:

  • csrf_cookie_name: protects the forms against cross-site forgery. Expires after 2 hours.
  • ci_session: keeps a short session when you send a form or when staff sign in. Expires after 2 hours.
  • hs_portfolio_theme: remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. It is kept in your browser’s local storage and never sent to us.

Because these are strictly necessary, we don’t ask for consent. Fonts are served from this site, so visiting doesn’t send your IP address to Google.

How long we keep it

We keep messages and sign-ups for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete them. Newsletter subscribers are kept until they unsubscribe. Approved comments stay with the article until you ask us to remove them.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. If you are in India, you can also nominate someone to exercise these rights for you and raise a grievance with us.

To make a request, email hello@himankseth.com or use the contact form. We reply within one month. If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to your data-protection authority (in the UK, the ICO; in the EU, the authority in your country).

Children

This site is for businesses and professionals. It isn’t aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
